Bookkeeping for US small businesses

Tare365: Know your net.

Money landing in the account is not money kept. Tare365 is bookkeeping for contractors, freelancers and small businesses, built around one number: what is actually yours once sales tax, deposits, pass-through costs and fees come out.

What tare is

Money that was never yours

Tare is the weight of the container, subtracted to get the true net. In your books, it is money that landed in the account but was never yours to keep. It is easy to mistake for income, and it is the first thing Tare365 takes out.

  • Sales tax collected

Held for the state. It was never income.

  • Payroll tax withheld

Taken from pay and owed to the IRS.

  • Income tax reserve

Set aside against this year’s profit.

  • Subcontractor pass-through

Paid to a sub and billed on without markup.

  • Materials at cost

Bought for a client and billed back at cost.

  • Processor fees

Taken by the card processor before the money arrived.

  • Customer deposits

Paid ahead for work not done yet.

  • Each one is its own line, subtracted in plain view. None of it is buried in a total.

How it will work

Three steps, then your net

Set up once. After that, most weeks are a few minutes of confirming.

  1. 1

    Connect your accounts

Link your business bank and card accounts once. Transactions arrive on their own.

  2. 2

    Confirm what it suggests

Each transaction comes with a suggested category, and anything that is tare is marked. Nothing is recorded until you confirm it.

  3. 3

    See your net

Gross receipts at the top, each kind of tare subtracted in plain view, and what is yours at the bottom.

Promises

What you can count on

Written down before the first customer, so they cannot quietly change after.

  • Nothing happens behind your back

Rules suggest, you decide. Automatic changes wait in a review queue, and every one can be undone. Auto-confirm is there only if you turn it on.

  • We do not move your buttons

No surprise redesigns. If something has to move, you hear about it at least two weeks ahead, and the old way keeps working for two weeks after.

  • No ads inside the product

No upsell banners, no partner offers, no pop-ups in the middle of your work. Ever.

  • Right to the cent

Every amount is kept in whole cents and never rounded on the way through, so totals add up exactly.

  • Built for more than one business

Each company keeps its own books. You see all of them from one login.

  • Kept in the United States

Your books are stored in the US and encrypted at rest.

For accountants

Plain words on top, the full system underneath

Owners see categories and plain words. Underneath is complete double-entry bookkeeping, and you get all of it.

  • Your own access to each client’s books
  • Account numbers and a full chart of accounts
  • A trial balance that always balances
  • Closed periods that stay closed
  • Corrections recorded as reversals, never silent edits
